Exploring the Yillow Maps

Visualizing data on a map can provide a unique perspective on housing trends and patterns. For Yillow, I made two maps: one for Single Family Homes and another for Manufactured Homes. Each map represents a comprehensive collection of properties, offering a geographic view of housing data. You can also click on a house's dot to get more information on it in a Zillow-style popup menu!

Interactive Map Navigation

Both of my Yillow Maps are just a click away, providing an immersive and interactive data exploration experience. Each map displays a wealth of information on every property, from its location to its features and pricing. To view a map, simply click on the respective links provided below. As you navigate through these maps, you can zoom in to explore a specific area or zoom out to get a broader perspective on housing patterns. You can also click individual houses to get more information about them.

The interactive map files are very large, so it may take a couple seconds for them to load.

Why Two Maps?

You might be wondering, why are there two separate maps? The answer lies in the constraints of file size on GitHub, Yillow's code repository platform. Github has a file limit size of 100MB, so I've divided my data into two different maps, each dedicated to a specific type of home. As a note, even this 100MB limit was hard to achieve with all the houses, so a small proportion of houses are randomly excluded from the map.

Learning Folium

I made these maps using Folium, which I had never used before. However, I thought that Folium was a really cool tool to get around Github Pages not allowing for backends, and I hope that I can use it in the future for other projects.
